How It Works
Get Involved
-
To become a giver of our giving circle all you have to do is fill out a Commitment Form stating that you will donate $100 four times a year to the local non-profit of the 100+ Women Who Care, Knox County group's choice.
-
You can either download the form from this website and email it to 100WomenKnox@gmail.com or fill one out at your first meeting.
-
When you check in at the meeting you are given a nametag and a ballot.
-
Givers who have nominated a non-profit for consideration to the group will put their names in a bowl at the meeting. Only givers may present a non-profit to the group. All non-profits must be local and have 501(c)3 status.
-
Please refer to the GUIDELINES document for more details on our policies.
-
At the beginning of each meeting 3 names are chosen at random from the bowl. If you are chosen to present your non-profit to the group you have 5 minutes (timed) to give your pitch. Please use the charitable guidelines fact sheet in preparing your presentation. This will be followed by a 5 minute (timed) question/answer period.
-
Each giver will write their choice on the slip of paper and they are collected and tallied. Whichever non-profit receives the most votes will be the recipient and then each giver will write a check directly to that non-profit organization for $100. Online giving options are also available.
-
If we have 100 givers, that is $10,000 in 1 hour with no paperwork, fundraising or overhead!
-
If you can't attend a meeting, we ask that you send your check with another member or mail it to our treasurer. You can put your name in to present a non-profit to the group every time or not at all. If you get to present your non-profit and it is not chosen you can try to present again future meetings .
-
Also at each meeting we get a brief presentation from a previous recipient as to how our money has been put to good use. We do all this in just one hour and we never run late!
